Perdana University Student has Paper Accepted in the Top Cardiovascular Journal
Perdana University Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (PU-RSCI) School of Medicine student, Nirmalatiban Parthiban’s paper ‘Remote Monitoring of Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Clinical Outcomes’ has been accepted for publication in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. This is the highest-rated journal in cardiology with an impact factor of 15.
This amazing achievement was a direct result from Nirmalatiban’s involvement in the PU-RCSI summer research programme. The publication was the result of work completed under the guided supervision of Dr. Anand Ganesan from the University of Adelaide and Royal Adelaide Hospital. Parthiban also received assistance from the other co-authors of the paper.
Remote monitoring (RM) of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) has been integrated into clinical practice. Recent clinical trials and several large device database studies have demonstrated a powerful survival advantage for ICD patients undergoing RM as compared to those receiving conventional in-office follow-up.
